The Isle of Hearts

The Isle of Hearts Cover

The sorcerer lay dead and broken at our feet as the remains of the town gently smoldered around us in the morning sun. No sorcerer had lived in Lostra for forty years, and the first to come ashore had all but destroyed us; only to be killed by the bell of our clock tower when his own spell reduced it to splinters. As I knelt down and pulled the sorcerer’s hood free from the mud, and away from his head, I wondered how a creature so powerful could survive being so careless.

Holding my scarf over my nose and mouth I quickly dropped the hood and stood back.

His head and shoulders were little more than bone covered in damp moss and rotting cloth. I could feel the blood drain from my face as I looked to Olwin for guidance and saw his face as pale as mine.

Olwin bent down and turned over the body, my stomach lurching as the body squelched. Olwin reached down and pulled out a perfect, round ruby the size of an apple from the mud next to it.

“At least some good will come from this,” I said, as Olwin held the ruby up to the sun.

“No,” he replied, looking down at the body. “An echo from my youth perhaps…”

I jumped back as it began to rise, bones crackling back into place, and tissues melding with a horrible meaty sloshing. It’s eyeless sockets, filled with dripping mud, coming to rest on Olwin.

“For whomever holds my heart,” it said in a deep voice, “I stand ready to serve.”

The Isle of Hearts brings players to the continent of Lostra and the world of Endara for the first time, introducing them to a rich fantasy world and elegant tabletop role playing game system. Players will be treated to an in-depth look at the fifteen peoples of Lostra, their cultures, a brief history, and the perils of the world they live in as you navigate a quest to deal with the horrors and powers of the second heartstone, or tell your own unique stories.

The game provides a light and flexible system of rules that can be modified or bent to the fit the situation with a minimum of fuss and requires only a single D10 to play. Although the book is the first installment in a series of fifteen role playing books from Infinite Palette the book is complete in and of itself; future installments to this series will expand upon the world of Endara, its peoples, and provide some additional campaign stories as well some truly as brilliant artwork.
